Maintenix for Defense

The Maintenix® Solution for Defense Operators

The Maintenix® product is a modern, best-in-class COTS software system that has been designed to address the needs of military maintenance, repair and overhaul organizations. Maintenix brings comprehensive maintenance management functionality to Mxi's defense customers, including unprecedented capabilities for fleet configuration and status monitoring. The system has a proven ability to handle distributed operations, by using the Internet or a secured Intranet to provide complete visibility into the condition, status, and availability of all aircraft, wherever they are located. Based on commercial best practices, Maintenix allows defense maintenance organizations to improve maintenance efficiency, and take advantage of the latest advances in IT and aircraft technology.

  • Maintenix allows for centralized control of the maintenance program for all aircraft, engines, and components in the fleet. The system offers effective maintenance program management tools for building, managing, and modifying the equipment configuration and the master maintenance plan for each aircraft type, model, and mission capability. Any maintenance plan revisions from engineering headquarters can be transmitted to all affected sites. To help identify potential maintenance program improvements, Maintenix provides reliability trending and analysis.

  • Forming the backbone of the transactional Maintenix system, the software offers rigorous configuration & records management capabilities. These capabilities include as-maintained configuration management, usage tracking, maintenance histories, electronic logbooks, and technical records for aircraft, engines, and components. This ensures that military officials always have accurate and up-to-date configuration, status, and condition information on their fleet.

  • Maintenix allows defense aviation organizations to effectively manage the entire maintenance process in the Organizational ("O") level, Intermediate ("I") level and Depot maintenance environments. Maintenix allows fleet-level allocation and forecasting of upcoming spare parts and resource demands (labor, tools and facilities) to ensure that the right resources are available in the right place at the right time. The system offers planning & scheduling functionality for planning the maintenance project work scope, assigning labor and other resources, reserving parts, and effectively managing non-routine work that gets added as discrepancies are logged. The role-based workflow facilitates the execution of maintenance activities, providing electronic maintenance "to do" lists, parts information, links to Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), and "point of maintenance" data collection capabilities. Maintenix enables unprecedented accuracy in information collected from the field, primarily because it eliminates the requirement for technicians to transcribe part numbers, serial numbers, etc.

  • Many military aircraft have sophisticated onboard computer systems that monitor performance and fault data throughout each flight mission. With Maintenix, the information from these onboard systems can be extracted, interpreted and displayed to the maintenance technicians in an intuitive user interface. Maintenix includes diagnostics & prognostics tools that take the extracted fault data and use it to assist with the troubleshooting of maintenance problems by helping to isolate the root cause, recommending corrective procedures based on historical success rates, and supporting the decision-making process.

  • In addition, the aircraft onboard computer collects usage data during all aircraft operations – this usage information can be loaded into Maintenix, updating the usage records in the system, as well as the maintenance schedules for the aircraft and all installed tracked components.

  • Maintenix provides the military with materials management functionality specifically designed to handle the unique materials requirements of the aviation industry. Maintenix handles industry-specific complications by managing the entire aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC) and allowing the tracking of selected items at the serial number level. Maintenix also addresses demand management & fulfillment (forecasting and fulfilling scheduled and unscheduled parts demands), parts reservations & requests, "Just in Time" (JIT) issuance of parts to specific work orders, material receipt inspection and routing, and warehouse management needs (such as stock management, issue & put-away tickets, vendor management, quarantine, warranties, etc).

  • To assist with cost management and budgeting, Maintenix has an array of finance capabilities including detailed maintenance cost tracking at the component or maintenance transaction level. The system provides tools for financial reporting and analysis, allowing maintenance and materials data to be rolled up, analyzed, and used for financial projections. Maintenix also offers procurement, invoice management, and creation of sales orders for outsourcing maintenance to third party contractors.

  • The modern technologies that are incorporated into Maintenix, such as wireless support, allow the military to make use of advanced communications technology, such as the Internet infrastructure and portable wireless devices, in the maintenance environment in order to ensure that data is provided to, and collected from, the point of maintenance. Also to facilitate "point of maintenance" information management, and to enable a paperless maintenance process, Maintenix has an electronic signature capability. This technology allows defense aviation maintenance organizations to streamline the maintenance process, implement effective workflow management, and reduce or even eliminate paperwork, through the use of digital signatures and electronic record keeping.

The Maintenix solution allows defense organizations to manage readiness proactively through more effective management of maintenance and materials demand assessment processes, from the O- and I-level to the Depot-level activities. The deployed functionality of Maintenix has been proven in the field, including remote sites such as aircraft carriers. Maintenix enables the military to achieve increased operational readiness, reduced maintenance costs, and optimized inventory levels, resulting in a significant overall increase in maintenance and supply chain efficiency.
