Maintenix for Airlines

The Maintenix® Solution for Airlines

The Maintenix® product is a modern, best-in-class maintenance and engineering (M&E) software package that has been specifically designed to meet the needs of today's airline maintenance organization. It is strategically designed to harness aircraft technology and IT advances to maximize overall efficiency gains. Maintenix allows its airline customers to overcome the challenges they face and to take advantage of several opportunities and new technologies available to them today.

  • Maintenix can help airlines streamline their maintenance program in order to take advantage of modern aircraft and engines that are designed for easier accessibility and maintainability (i.e. modular designs, line replaceable units, and flexible segmented maintenance programs). Maintenix offers effective tools for building, managing, and modifying the equipment configuration and the master maintenance program for each aircraft type and model in the fleet. Maintenix can also help airlines manage the maintenance programs, technical records, and work packaging for work that they insource from other airlines, and for maintenance that they outsource to third party facilities. In addition, the Maintenix software provides a wealth of reliability information, allowing airlines to identify and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and perform data analysis that can help to identify potential maintenance program improvements.

  • Underlying all Maintenix functions, the unique component-centric structure of the solution provides unrivaled serialized configuration management capabilities. Maintenix offers as-maintained configuration management, usage tracking, maintenance histories, electronic logbooks, and technical records management for aircraft and components. The system defines the allowable configurations of aircraft assets, and enforces these configuration rules both when maintenance is scheduled and when it is executed. Configuration changes are automatically tracked as work is done, and all maintenance data moves with a component as it is installed, removed, and maintained. These features ensure (and prove) the airline's compliance with airworthiness regulations.

  • Advanced monitoring techniques (i.e. in-flight pilot communications, and onboard sensors and maintenance computers) enable airlines to move to a more proactive maintenance strategy. With Maintenix, Pilot Reports (PIREPs) and the information from these onboard systems (if available) can be put to good use – while the aircraft is still in the air. The diagnostics & prognostics capabilities of Maintenix provide current status information for all aircraft in the fleet, as well as providing early indication of any problems that may be developing on a given aircraft. Maintenix goes a step further by assisting with the troubleshooting of these problems, recommending corrective maintenance procedures based on historical success rates, and supporting the decision-making process.

  • With Maintenix, airlines can effectively manage the entire maintenance process for the line, heavy, and shop maintenance environments. The system provides the ability to forecast upcoming maintenance accurately, including the demand for spare parts and other resources (labor, tools and facilities) to ensure that the right resources are in the right place at the right time. Maintenix also provides the planning & scheduling tools necessary to plan the maintenance project work scope, reserve or order parts, assign labor and other resources, and effectively manage non-routine work that gets added along the way. The system’s work execution workflow provides electronic "to do" lists based on assigned tasks, links to electronic job cards and technical manuals, and point of maintenance data collection capabilities, as well as the ability to request Engineering support if required.

  • The modern technologies that are incorporated into Maintenix, such as wireless support, allow airlines to make use of the Internet and portable wireless devices to ensure that important information is efficiently pushed out to, and collected from, the point of maintenance. Maintenix further supports "point of maintenance" information management and a paperless maintenance process through its electronic signature capability. This technology allows airline maintenance organizations to take advantage of digital signatures and electronic record keeping to streamline the maintenance process through effective workflow management and the elimination of paperwork.

  • Maintenix provides airlines with materials management functionality specifically designed to handle the unique materials requirements of the aviation industry. The system handles industry-specific complications by managing the entire aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogue (IPC) and allowing the tracking of selected items at the serial number level. Maintenix also addresses demand management & fulfillment (forecasting and fulfilling scheduled and unscheduled parts demands), parts reservations & requests, "Just in Time" (JIT) issuance of parts to specific work orders, and stock allocation and leveling. These functions are all closely integrated with Maintenance, ensuring real-time visibility and communication between the Maintenance and Materials organizations. In addition, Maintenix addresses warehouse management needs such as stock management, issue & put-away tickets, vendor management, quarantine, warranties, etc.

  • To assist airlines in maintaining a healthy bottom line and facilitating financial accountability, Maintenix provides powerful financial management and cost tracking tools. Maintenix manages finance needs from sales invoice generation to procurement, and also provides tracking of costs and revenues, as well as detailed assessment of inventory valuations. Budgets and cost centers can be defined in Maintenix to give a detailed financial picture of the airline maintenance organization to a granular level. The software couples these detailed financial transactions with powerful reporting and analytical tools, resulting in tremendous organizational visibility of financial health.

The Maintenix solution allows airlines and other commercial aviation organizations to effectively manage the entire maintenance process, for both outsourced and insourced activities, at the line, heavy, and shop levels. At the same time, the use of Maintenix results in improved labor productivity and reduced costs, as well as increased aircraft availability, and reduced delays and disruptions. Together, these factors help airlines to achieve their most important goal – happy customers.
